The Ordinary The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder pure Vitamin C for brightening, uneven skin tone, and anti-aging The Ordinary swatch of the 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder

100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder

Fine 325 Mesh Topical Powder

Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant that brightens the skin tone and reduces the appearance of signs of aging. This formula offers a very fine L-Ascorbic Acid powder that visibly targets the appearance of uneven skin tone, dullness, and signs of aging and is formulated to be mixed with other treatments (except those containing Niacinamide or EUK 134).

The format of this formula is a very fine, anhydrous, L-Ascorbic Acid powder and, as such, provides the most direct exposure of extremely high concentrations of Vitamin C topically. With such format, a very strong tingling but non-irritating sensation is expected during the first 1-2 weeks of use until the skin's tolerance to such high exposure is elevated.

* If topical Vitamin C is used as part of skincare, it should be applied at alternate times with EUK 134 or Niacinamide (ideally Vitamin C in the PM and EUK 134/Niacinamide in the AM). Otherwise, EUK 134/Niacinamide can affect the integrity of pure-form Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid).

The Ordinary's portfolio of Vitamin C includes the following formulations:

Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone
Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%
Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F
Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%
Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%
Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution
100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder

Topical Vitamin C offers a wide array of benefits to the skin. However, many forms of Vitamin C and many more formulations of Vitamin C are available commercially with a potential to confuse the audience. We have developed a guide that offers guidance on the formulations of Vitamin C offered under The Ordinary range. It also offers education on Vitamin C itself and on the differences between formulations of Vitamin C at large. Review our quides to Vitamin C products
Mix a small amount with other treatments in the palm of your hand and apply to face in the AM or the PM. Avoid contact with the eyes. A tingling sensation can be expected after application. Do not mix with formulations containing Niacinamide or EUK 134. If irritation occurs, cease use and consult a physician. Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. Keep out of reach of children. See how to combine multiple formulations from The Ordinary in a single regimen

Patch tests are an easy way to help predict if you may experience a negative initial reaction to a new product. It is recommended to perform a patch test before incorporating any new product into your regimen. We have outlined a general method for conducting your own patch test below based on the type of product.

  • Apply a small amount of the product onto a clean area of skin on the upper forearm.
  • Keep the area dry.
  • If the product has a specified duration of use, rinse off after this time has elapsed. Otherwise rinse off after 24 hours.
  • If any redness, burning, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test, do not use the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from There's no competition for it I've been using it for less than a week, so I'll be back to review the long-term effects, but so far I am loving this product! You can't ignore the value for the money, of course. For me, what did it is the simplicity. I was looking for a well-dosed L-Ascorbic Acid treatment and got frustrated by either formulae and/or the fact it oxidizes so quickly. The powder form is just practical as you just add it to your moisturizer and I find it mixes in very easily. I use a full scoop every time and I don't feel any tingling. This powder might be a great option to start out, before moving to more sophisticated vit-c treatments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product , glowy skin, instant results Loved this product it gives instant shine and smoothens skin. Liked the faint orange smell. I wish i could add it to my daily regimen but since i have never used vitamin C products before it makes my skin red around the cheeks . I would try lower concentration before getting back to this product again. But definitely this vitamin C and retinol 1% in squalene are my favourite products. I could see the visible difference on first application.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient and adjustable I really like being able to customize the amount I use, and because it's a powder I assume it will last a long time, but the shelf life symbol is tiny and impossible to read, but looks like 3 months. Is that really all?. Can you please add shelf life information in your product descriptions? Thanks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for evening out skin tone I have been mixing about 1/3 scoop with 4-5 drops of the resveratrol and ferulic acid serum and it has been great. My skin has brightened up and evened out. I cannot speak for those with sensitive skin since I can tolerate a lot, but I have had zero irritation from this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Brightens! There is A LOT of product! It seems like I will never run out. I actually really see a difference when using the vitamin C. I either mix it in with my face wash (and I even notice a brighter glow just from that) or I put some in with my moisturizer and I notice it does help with brightening. I didn't find it helped with scarring, so maybe I need to put a higher concentration of the vitamin C on those spots? I may try that. It used to sting when I mixed it in with the Squalene and applied it on my face but now that I mix it in with just moisturizer I don't have any reaction. Overall, next time I would try a Vitamin C mixed in with something to see the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way of incorporating Vitamin C in my routine Never tried any type of Vitamin C before and I was afraid how to include it in my routine (using Retinol, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutine already). In my mind was that for now I shouldn't apply any more serums, keep it simple. So I figured "I should just mix this with my current moisturiser" :D and voila.... it mixes perfectly! :D It's very easy to dissolve in any watery solution, powder is so soft that it doesn't make lumps. I even do that step in the morning, before job, even though I have to rush. It's that simple! This way I don't have to worry regarding amount, (serums are usually spent faster) I know there is plenty and I will not be quickly left without the product until next purchase. Thank you The Ordinary team for giving us hope and efficient products :D Please, remain the same reliable company as so many people adore you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High hopes Love the packaging and ease of use. New to the product but after a few uses, happy with it. Curious if it's good to use with the Pycnogenol serum?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely red skin after applying moisturizer I've been using this product in the AM mixed with Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA and Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% which my skin seems to like. My skin feels good after application. When I add a moisturizing SPF after my skin flares up and turns insanely red, so much so that it would be impossible to leave the house. The redness disappears after about 1-2 hours. What am I doing wrong?
