An exceptionally-stable solution of 15% Ethylated Ascorbic Acid, this water-free formula offers a direct-acting approach to achieving a radiant, healthy-looking skin tone. Unlike other Vitamin C derivatives, this ethylated form acts directly like Vitamin C, is closer in molecular weight to actual Vitamin C which allows for faster visible results, and offers a much better stability profile than any known direct-acting form of Vitamin C.

Notes: Since this formulation is a water-free solution, it may feel slightly "oily" for a few seconds after application, despite the absence of all oils.

The Ordinary's portfolio of Vitamin C includes the following formulations:

Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone
Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%
Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F
Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%
Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%
Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution
100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder

Topical Vitamin C offers a wide array of benefits to the skin. However, many forms of Vitamin C and many more formulations of Vitamin C are available commercially with a potential to confuse the audience. We have developed a guide that offers guidance on the formulations of Vitamin C offered under The Ordinary range. It also offers education on Vitamin C itself and on the differences between formulations of Vitamin C at large. Review our quides to Vitamin C products
Apply a few drops to face AM and PM. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, cease use and consult a physician. Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. Keep out of reach of children. See how to combine multiple formulations from The Ordinary in a single regimen

Patch tests are an easy way to help predict if you may experience a negative initial reaction to a new product. It is recommended to perform a patch test before incorporating any new product into your regimen. We have outlined a general method for conducting your own patch test below based on the type of product.

  • Apply a small amount of the product onto a clean area of skin on the upper forearm.
  • Keep the area dry.
  • If the product has a specified duration of use, rinse off after this time has elapsed. Otherwise rinse off after 24 hours.
  • If any redness, burning, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test, do not use the product.

For more product specific information, review our Patch Testing Guide.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from made me break out like crazy! I bought this a couple of months ago after trying a few different Vitamin C products from The Ordinary and this one absolutely was a HORRIBLE fit for my skin. it is SO oily. I have never had acne my entire life but even after using this product for weeks, I had pimples all over my face. They were so visible and uncharacteristic my family and partner even pointed it out. I do not recommend buying this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Healthy glow, easy-on the skin Vit C I started using the EAA in the morning, together with the Resveratrol &Ferulic Acid, my face looks so rosy and glowing and healthy. The Vitamin C Suspension 30% and Ascorbic Acid is great as well, but this is easier to apply and can be used during the day... absolutely love TO products, my skin looks so much better and younger since I started using it last October (I am 54 y/o). My skin is rather dry and very sensitive, yet I have not had any problems with any of the products. I do recommend reading up on the regimes to avoid combining stuff you should not. Great products for a really good price. I hope it stays that way :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This unfortunately hated my skin This made my eyes so inflamed and puffy, even when using it with squalene and away from my eyes, and such a small amount. I always do a patch test before introducing a new product - this didn't show any changes to my skin when I did one. This is a very strong product and the reaction my skin had was awful. My eyelids and undereye areas were massively inflamed and sore for about 3 days. The skin shed from them too, making them very sore and patchy. I have visible ageing on my eyes now, sped up by using this product. Not for everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ... This product brings life back to my skin. It is amazing. :) I use the AHA+BHA peeling as well once a week and after I use the peeling product I can not use the Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution for like 1,5-2 days because it would irritate my skin and some redness would appear. But other than that it is amazing and I will continue to use it and will make sure that I will wait like 2 days after I did the peeling product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ... I use this in the AM with a few drops of the Niacinamide serum and absolutely swear by it. My skin has been noticeably clearer and brighter. As someone who has worked in dermatology, these products are unparalleled. You won't find another brand as affordable as this one with products of such high quality

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ... In less than a week, my skin is bright. It's evening out beautifully. My regimen is proving to be perfect for my skin. I'm at the point that my skin looks so clean and bright that I don't feel as inclined to use makeup. My entire reasoning for using it was because it was full and uneven. I have ALWAYS wanted skin that I didn't feel like I needed makeup. My dreams are coming true. These are the products I use: Ethylated Ascorbic Acid, retinol 0.2%, AHA peel (seeing significant changes in old acne scarring), EUK 134, hyaluranic moisturizer, niacinamide powder (excellent for my oily skin). I have always wanted to take better care of my skin and Deciem lays it out in such a way that I can understand what my skin needs, why it needs it, what I'm really putting on my skin, how to use it, and how to achieve my skincare goals. Thank you for committing to helping people understand skincare and making it incredibly affordable. Healthy skin should be for everyone. Period. Deciem has made that possible. At this point, I've contacted Deciem about how to use the niacinamide powder with my CeraVe cream at night. I wasn't sure if it should go before or after retinol with EUK. It's water-bssed, but also a cream. I've tried it both ways and the outcome seems similar, so I may just be overthinking it. Next I may try to eye serum. I have very dark under eyes. At one point, the ENT referred to them as allergic shiners, but after years of allergy shots and 4 different allergy meds, they haven't disappeared. My suspicion is that it's genetic, so I'm going into this understanding that it may not work and that is OKAY because of their incredible return policy. Thanks for changing my life, Deciem, and thank you for giving me skin I can afford! DECIEM Response: Thank you for your review! We're glad we have been able to help you on your skincare journey ❤.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE BEST! I... THE BEST! I have sensitive skin and had resigned myself to not being able to use Vit C on my skin. Then I saw this was available and I'm loving it!! My moisturizers are oil-based, so this works beautifully with them, and adds a nice bit of moisture to my routine. And the results have been lovely - smoother skin, higher cell turnover, glowiness, less breakouts, less redness...I could go on. Please, please never stop making this as it's the only thing that works for me.
