Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

Surface hydration formula

7.70 CAD
Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) are elements that keep the outer layer of the skin protected and well-hydrated. NMF are made up of multiple amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, saccharides, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid and many other compounds that are naturally present in the skin.

This formula offers non-greasy hydration that acts as a direct topical supplement of impaired NMF components. It contains 11 amino acids, phospholipids, alpha/beta/gamma fatty acids, triglycerides, sterols and sterol esters, glycerin, ceramide precursors, urea, saccharides, sodium PCA and hyaluronic acid. It offers immediate hydration and lasting results with continued use.
Apply after serums as needed for effective surface hydration. If irritation occurs, cease use and consult a physician. Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. Keep out of reach of children. See how to combine multiple formulations from The Ordinary in a single regimen

Patch tests are an easy way to help predict if you may experience a negative initial reaction to a new product. It is recommended to perform a patch test before incorporating any new product into your regimen. We have outlined a general method for conducting your own patch test below based on the type of product.

  • Apply a small amount of the product onto a clean area of skin on the upper forearm.
  • Keep the area dry.
  • If the product has a specified duration of use, rinse off after this time has elapsed. Otherwise rinse off after 24 hours.
  • If any redness, burning, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test, do not use the product.

For more product specific information, review our Patch Testing Guide.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid moisturizer I'm two weeks into using my reccomended The Ordinary regimine. In the past, most of time when I try new skincare products I end up with cystic acne. I decided to try TO because you can't beat the price and I am so cheap. So far, no cystic acne, just the standard purging acne with new skincare. Overall I like this moisturizer, a little goes a long way, you really don't need to use much at all. However, I do find it feels a little heavy, I notice that in the morning when I'm running around getting ready or when I'm wearing a heavier mask that my upper lip starts to sweat. Luckily I don't wear foundation, so I don't need to worry about makeup melting off. But I do wish there was another option for a moisturizer, specifically something lighter. I am happy with this moisturizer otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Frills but does the job! I use this twice daily as part of my new routine and I wouldn’t be without it now. It has no real smell or fancy gimmick, it just does what it needs to. My skin has no more dry patches or unevenness to it. It feels soft and smooth and I love the difference the whole routine has made to my skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Moisturiser! I have really oily skin and moisturisers always make it oily, this doesn’t! This just seems to soak right in and stay in. I use this with Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. My only issue is that 30mls is too small, I feel like I’m wasting it when I use it. You do only need a tiny amount as it spreads, even if that feels like it isn’t enough. Unfortunately where I purchased it didn’t have the 100ml one. But aside from that, great product, works very well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a great value I was using this product for a while and thought it was a decent moisturizer but nothing great...until I stopped using it-then I really appreciated it! I am 53 with skin on the dry side...when I stopped using this I noticed I had to pile on more of other brands. I still have to use heavier creams at night and really wished the Ordinary made a night cream. But for the price, I will use this as my first layer of moisture over serums for sure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good product I was looking forward to using this moisturizer as it is said that it's allegedly good for sensitive skin, which is, for me at least, not the case. It has a ton of ingredients (not that that in itself is a bad thing) and at least one of them irritates my skin. This moisturizer made my skin red, dry, tightened to the point it's hurting. Now I have flaky skin and I'm saving it with another moisturizer. It might be the alcohol that's the problem. I will definitely be returning this product soon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Formula Change? I’ve used this moisturizer now for about 2 years, and suddenly the consistency is WAY different. It feels oiler yet my skin feels dry after using it. I don’t understand what happened. I used to absolutely love this moisturizer. Looks like it’s time to go on the hunt again for a new face lotion. Ugh.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not moisturizing enough. Does not readily absorb I bought this on a friend's recommendation. I do have dry skin esp during the colder winter months and I did not find this to be moisturizing enough. It does not readily absorb into my skin like normal moisturizers even when I try to rub into my hands to warm it up first. I feel it's almost like smearing mineral sunscreen on your face but it's really just moving the 'white cast' around my face as I try to massage into my face and neck. It eventually does absorb but it takes some rubbing. Half hour if my skin feels tight or I see some dry skin peeling, I have to apply another thicker moisturizer. I'm currently trying to squeeze more out of the tube just to use it up faster and will not be repurchasing once done.
